Lakylu Kennels - Puppy & Dog Training

We offer private lessons to the general public and small group lessons for obedience, rally and general manners.

LaRena Phillips is an AKC Evaluator for CGC (Canine Good Citizen) AKC Puppy S.T.A.R. and is available for evaluating all levels of CGC, the AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and Urban CGC (CGC).

We occasionally hold group classes for AKC Puppy S.T.A.R and CGC - LaRena is active with local youth organizations as well, coaching 4-H dog project and is available for clinics and CGC evaluations for AKC clubs, 4H and other organizations.

• $60/session 30-45 minutes at our facility in Point, TX
• Note: 1st lesson will be 1 hour to evaluate and set up goals and initial training plan.
• Open to general public and any dog 4 months of age or older - ALL BREEDS WELCOME
• Open to any dog/puppy from our breeding program 4 months or older.
  
  
  
• Boarding/Train (Dogs bred by us) We are a PRIVATE training facility for dogs exclusively bred by us. Any puppy from our program or a co-own dog is eligible for this program. 55 - Limited Availability - Climate controlled facility.
  • Light train/board - Dogs worked 1X daily in a 15-20 minutes $35/day
  • Intensive train/board - Dogs worked 1-2X daily + Social Outings + House Training & Manners $55/day - 5 day minimum.
  • Board Only $25/night
  • Day Care (No overnight) $20/day
  • 1 week intensive train with boarding. Dogs are worked with 2-3 times a day in 15-20 minute sessions. $375/week
  • Monthly Board and Light Training $950/month
    • For dogs/puppies that need general manners training or preparing for AKC events.
  • Monthly Board and Intensive Training $1500/month
    • For dogs that need problem solving or behavior training and for dogs entering AKC competitions.
  • Puppy Head Start $15/day
    • Puppies that are held over from original purchase are eligible for Puppy Head Start
    • Puppies 8 to 12 weeks are eligible for this program.

  • Basic Obedience - 4 Week Course Cost $150
    • Our basic dog obedience class is open to dogs 4 months and older.  This class teaches basic obedience commands such as heel, sit, down, stay and come and is all on leash training. You and your dog will learn these basic commands and you will learn methods of controlling your dog in various situations, how to be around other dogs and people and how to communicate with your dog.
      • Equipment Required
        • Training collar such as a slip collar (chain or nylon) or martingale required.
        • 6 foot leather of nylon leash to attach to training collar.
        • Closed toed shoes for you (tennis shoes are ideal)
        • Water for you and your dog
        • Small soft treats and a toy

    This is a 4-week class that can prepare your dog to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen® test. Min class size of 3. Maximum class size of 8.

  • Puppy Basics - 6 Week Course Cost $150
    • Our basic puppy class is open to dogs 3 to 12 months of age.  This class teaches basic commands and shaping for behaviors such as heel, sit, down, stay and come and is all on leash training. You and your dog will learn these basic commands and you will learn methods of shaping your puppy's behaviors and expose your puppy to other dogs and people.
      • Equipment Required
        • Flat Buckle Collar
        • Training collar such as a slip collar (chain or nylon) or Martingale Optional
        • 6 foot leather of nylon leash to attach to training collar or buckle collar.
        • Closed toed shoes for you (tennis shoes are ideal)
        • Water for you and your dog
        • Small soft treats and a toy

    This is a 4-week class that can prepare your dog to take the AKC Puppy S.T.A.R.® test. Min class size of 3. Maximum class size of 8.

  • Introduction to AKC/UKC Rally - 4 Week Course Cost $150
  • Our basic Intro to Rally class is open to dogs 6 months and older.  This class teaches basic rally obedience and helps prepare you for this fun competition at AKC/UKC Rally Events. You and your dog will learn the basics of Rally Novice signs, how to navigate a rally course and how to get involved in rally competitions.
    • Equipment Required
      • Training collar such as a slip collar (chain or nylon).
      • 6 foot leather of nylon leash to attach to training collar.
      • Closed toed shoes for you (tennis shoes are ideal)
      • Water for you and your dog
      • Small soft treats and a toy

  This is a 4-week class that can prepare your dog to take the AKC Rally Obedience Novice Trials. Min class size of 3. Maximum class size of 8.

All Classes Require

• Proof of Current Rabies, Parvo, Distemper and Bordetella
• Dogs should be free of parasites (Fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites)
• Dogs should be on heartworm preventive.

We do not offer public boarding or long term training for the general public. Only puppies and dogs bred by Lakylu Kennels are eligible for board and train.

Private lessons are available to the general public (no boarding) we work with you and your dog. Our focus is to teach you how to communicate with your dog and prepare for Canine Good Citizen Testing, Trick dog, Rally and Obedience competition.
